About me & my plans
Preparing for each adventure means I get to enjoy it in my mind a thousand times before I leave home
I love to plan because I can’t think on my feet and I certainly can’t think under pressure! My life is also busy… I’m a homeschooling mum to two quirky kids… and then there is our funny siamese cats, Flowersparkle & Whiskers, who hold each other in the highest of disregard and are our biggest obstacle to getting away on our adventures because Whiskers has been banned from the cattery for meowing too much! She is one naughty cat!
“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all” – Hellen Keller
I love this quote from Hellen Keller. I used to think that planning and routine took all the adventure out of life, that it killed spontaneity and locked you in to a pre-determined future. Now, after becoming a parent of two quirky kids (and a rogue siamese), I realise that the opposite is true. Planning helps you to see around corners and make the best use of your time, money and energy so you can fit more adventure in and have the resources to be spontaneous. It gives you awareness of your contingencies so you know your options when things go wrong (as they inevitably do).
“Experience is like gold… second hand gold is as good as new”
When I’m planning my next adventure, the best research is always to speak to someone who has been there or done that. In my blog posts I want to share the information that I wish I’d had… that I’ve now experienced first hand or trawled through the internet to get… and then share that information to save you the trouble.
I write each post as if I’m writing it for my friend to make their trip easier. Actually, that’s why I started this blog in the first place… (Looking at you Tara!). I hope you find my experience and research makes your adventure better!
